System: Access Control and CCTV

Training: Unlimited ongoing training

Maintenance: Ongoing service and maintenance contract

Formed as Dorchester Collection in 2006, the collection of luxury hotels extends to nine worldwide locations; with three in the United Kingdom. Two properties are located in central London, being The Dorchester and 45 Park Lane and Coworth Park is located in Berkshire.

Systems in place were limited and underperforming and, following an extensive tendering process, A Plus Security was awarded the maintenance support contract for all three UK premises in September 2019.

The main challenge faced by Dorchester Collection security team was that the legacy systems in place were not running optimally and as a result, the client was not able to utilise the systems fully and effectively throughout the sites.

Our main challenge was that there was no information about the legacy systems at any of the sites, so we had to collate an inventory as a starting point, which was quite a challenge due to the sheer scale of each property.

We built up an inventory of the equipment, locations, software types and licenses, plus the various faults throughout the sites that we knew about, as well as those potential faults we didn’t know about!

The contract itself is challenging, as these sites are some of the most prestigious hotels and residences in the world, so demands for a top-level service are high. Our engineers are expected to be neat and tidy when attending a site as we are often working around and potentially visible to VIPs and diplomats.

As is protocol for us before we take on a new maintenance contract, A Plus Security audited all three sites fully to understand the strengths and weaknesses in the systems concerned.

We provided open and honest feedback on the limitations of the legacy systems, advised on what was needed to bring the systems up to standard and what budget should be set aside for the upgrade.

This open book approach is a key part of our philosophy at A Plus Security for two reasons: it helped us get the systems to where they need to be for Dorchester Collections – and it cemented a good working relationship!

Since we started the contract, we have steadily been able to bring the sites up to standard to the point where Dorchester Collection is seeing a return on investment. We are delighted to have been nominated for all further security installations moving forward.

Installed systems

Cathexis CCTV and Maxxess access control are installed across all three sites, integrated with multiple alarm locations and analytical alarms throughout each property.

What other
clients have to
say about us

A Plus provides an excellent return on investment, not just through the solution installed, but the general experience they offer from pre-install to post-install and right through to the maintenance of the system. We knew we had made the right decision with A Plus as they offered a comprehensive and detailed proposal and project plan. The skill level of their engineers was a pleasant surprise with their knowledge of IT and networks, as well as electronic security, which made dealing with our internal IT team very smooth. Apart from that, the fact we never had to chase them for anything was a very nice surprise!

ACS International Schools

We needed a partner that would install phases of security solutions over the next 2-3 years as well as offer a great service within a maintenance agreement. A Plus were top of the pile and were fully deserved in winning the contract. We recommend A Plus as a one stop shop. The consultancy and design, through to implementation and after care was the best we have had. The level of service and detail that A Plus goes into to ensure a seamless project was excellent. They continue to exceed at all tasks given to them.

The Dorchester Collection

We needed to roll out the new system throughout Scotland, London and Europe which was very challenging. A Plus and their advice and flexibility made this process much easier for the whole project team. The one to one dialogue and personal service has been excellent. We can speak to a familiar voice at any time, morning and night which has exceeded our expectations. Since the project roll out was completed, we have been able to centrally control the physical security of the Government’s Estates seamlessly. The process Is now simpler which has led to better productivity.
